Leipzig University

Over 150 degree programmes covering everything from African studies to zoology, 14 faculties, more than 31,000 students, around 3,400 of whom come from abroad: Leipzig University has been a great place of education for over 600 years — in everything from the humanities and social sciences to the natural and life sciences.

Are you interested in law, medicine, teaching, or pharmacy? More than a third of all students are now enrolled in these subjects. But you can also study midwifery, digital humanities, and many other degree programmes here.

#StudyInLeipzig — and fall head over heels in love with a truly unique city with an atmosphere like no other. Your event calendars are sure to be full of concerts, parties, sporting activities, readings, exhibitions, and art house cinemas. And what many people don’t know is that Leipzig is also a city on the water!

You will find the university’s 14 faculties at many different locations in the city. The glass façade of the new Augusteum building sparkles at the heart of the city centre — this is where you’ll find the university’s largest lecture hall, the Audimax. There is even a special feature in the basement: a training facility for budding interpreters. Right next door is the lecture hall building. Students come here not only for lectures, but also for the modern canteen and the welcoming campus library. The venerable Bibliotheca Albertina on Beethovenstraße is also a charming place to learn and exchange ideas.
