“Knowledge for life” is the motto of TU Dresden. It has also been one of the eleven German Universities of Excellence since 2012. With its 17 faculties, TUD offers a very broad range of subjects: You can study natural sciences, engineering, transport sciences, languages, literature, social sciences, teaching, economics, educational sciences, computer science, and medicine, as well as programmes in construction and environmental studies, such as forestry and architecture.

Around 28,000 students from 124 countries enjoy the many opportunities offered by one of Germany’s largest technical universities. Students can complete their studies with a bachelor’s degree, 'Diplom', or master’s degree, a state examination or, in some cases, an international double degree.

There are a range of opportunities at TUD to help you succeed in your studies. Dresden University Sports Center offers a wide range of sports activities and there are more than 100 student groups to choose from if you want to get involved in the university and promote important issues.

The Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) is one of the largest and most state-of-the-art academic libraries in Germany.

Excellent research: TUD conducts cutting-edge research in many fields in search of solutions to the major challenges facing humanity: climate change, energy transition, upheavals in politics and society. Research focuses on areas such as life sciences and bioengineering, information technology, microelectronics and artificial intelligence as well as materials science. Interdisciplinary cooperation with over 30 institutes and facilities including the Max Planck Society, the Leibniz Association, the Fraunhofer Society, and the Helmholtz Association in the Dresden-concept Science and Innovation Campus ensures a scientific community that is unique in Germany.

High-tech Dresden: Thanks to numerous cooperations with companies, especially in the field of microelectronics in “Silicon Saxony”, and the practical relevance of the degree programmes, Dresden offers very good job opportunities.
