Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden

“Achieve more practically” — This is how the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden encapsulates what it is all about. And it’s true: Students get a lot of practical experience and work in small groups here. Modern laboratories, workshops, experimental areas, and greenhouses offer the perfect setting for teaching and research. And for a truly unique study programme.

HTW Dresden is at the forefront of German universities of applied sciences. The combination of technology, business, design, and environment is unique. There are 42 degree programmes on offer across two campuses: the Friedrich-List-Platz campus near the city centre and the “green” Pillnitz campus. The fields of study include civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, geoinformatics, economics, agriculture, environment, chemistry, and design.

There are bachelor’s, master’s, and Diplom degree programmes, including agriculture, horticulture, environmental monitoring, and geomatics surveying/cartography/geoinformatics. With eight faculties, 170 professors, and around 4,600 students, HTW Dresden is Dresden’s second largest university. At the same time, it is small enough for close, personal support — people know each other here.

Good ideas have a future here: With its start-up incubator, HTW Dresden provides comprehensive support for student founders in implementing their business ideas. And for those who want to brush up on their school knowledge (or are still unsure), there are special intensive courses to prepare them for their studies.
