TU Bergakademie Freiberg

TU Bergakademie Freiberg

The path to a more climate-friendly and environmentally friendly world requires a great deal of change — and a lot of global visions. That’s why the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TU Bergakademie Freiberg) focuses on one core topic in particular: Transformation. Everything revolves around energy and materials — including urgently needed raw materials and environmentally friendly recycling.

This puts the historic Freiberg University of Mining and Technology ahead of the curve. And with around 3,500 students, it is still small and personal. Teaching and research is carried out here along the entire value chain. The interdisciplinary and practical approach focuses on a modern circular economy with less waste, environmentally friendly resource extraction and processing, smart recycling, and a cleaner industry. And, of course, sustainable energy and the materials of the future.

That’s a lot of material — and almost limitless possibilities. With over 60 exciting, future-oriented degree programmes, there are many paths to choose from. There’s a choice of engineering, natural science, geoscience, materials science, and economics programmes: 17 bachelor’s and 37 master’s degree programmes (14 of which are taught in English) as well as 13 'Diplom' degree programmes turn students into sought-after future experts. You can look forward to intensive support and state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities. What’s more, with almost 40% international students, Freiberg University of Mining and Technology offers plenty of opportunities for exchange and new perspectives.
